Greeks Win The Semi-Finals [[UPDATE: Unfortunately, I took this stuff out. It was kind of harsh, actually. If you were quick enough to read it, lucky you. I have graphic friends…]]
I have interviewed my good friend (we will call her Ms. Jane) over MSN about this Denim Skirt issue. She is Singaporean, so she should have some sort of fasion sense. Below, you will see the transcript of our conversation. Kind of interesting how she mentions the San Francisco gold rush and why that makes denim bad for the work place. Something we all should think about… Translated text follow confusing text, hey, she is Singaporean, speaks Singlish Chris: Do you consider Denim Skirts part of the “Jeans” product line?
The company last week rolled out the official dress code. We had an HR meeting yesterday afternoon (which almost made me late for a date, which I had a very nice time at, btw) to discuss these new policies, in addition to many other policies. One of the rules state that you can not wear “jeans in any forms”. (no, the ’s’ after “form” is not my typo) One of our female colleagues is today wearing a denim skirt, frayed at the bottom with some silver dot things spelling out some words.
Today was a really busy day. The morning and part of the afternoon was spent fixing code that a programmer here messed up after not following my instructions from the day before. That delayed the feature release a few hours (release of new features requested by the client). Yeah, that was basically it. Following that, I submitted 4 of our projects to the Web Awards (www.webawards.com) competition for this year. (Yay, what a great task to do, lucky me!
Well, I suppose that it is time I post about my trip. I arrived On Wednesday evening (June 16) to Detroit Metro Airport. I rented a car and drove to my hotel in Southfield. I had 2 days of meetings (Thursday and Friday) with a new customer/partner. Technical meetings, not sales - those were already done weeks before. Friday I swung down to Ann Arbor (where my University was) to have dinner with Derek, Sid, Matt, and Joanne.
I am back in Beijing. Everything ok, just busy at work, so I don’t have time to write an extended entry about my trip to the states. I hope to do this during the weekend.
