As I mentioned in a previous post, I recently went on holiday during the Chinese National Day Holiday (October 1 - 7). October 1, 1949 was the official founding date of the People’s Republic of China. Originally, my flight was set to take off at 8:20 AM from a proper gate (with the gangway). Of course, another flight (I believe to Haerbin or some place) was at my gate and was also scheduled to leave at 8:20.
I just finished uploading photos from my National Day trip:

I haven’t posted to the site over the past week due to the fact I was on holiday. Last day of work was excesively busy; I forgot to post the pre-holiday post. Sorry. As the title suggests, this trip, while taking place inside of China, involved different modes of transportation, including a plane, two long distence buses, and a 7+ hour ferry trip. I have many pictures and a few stories to tell, when I have a chance, I will post them.
Apparently, some 43 people entered the Canadian Embassy here in Beijing seeking Asylum. News reports suggest “at least some” were North Korean, but I imagine all were. This is a nice embarassment to the Chinese security forces who guard the Embassies - as articles stated, they have erected barbed wire fences around (most) embassies over the past 2 years or so - an eye sore, but understandable. The Canadian Embassy is technically in the Sanlitun Embassy district, of which I passby almost every day.
No more chuan for me! The nice lamb sticks from Western China seasoned to perfection… ugh… It’s a shame, good cheap food, but my stomach just won’t take it anymore.
I’m getting real real real tired of the whole mooncake craze.
Lucky for me and everyone else who is annoyed, today is the actual festival. So, that means, its almost over. Over the past week or two, I have consumed a number of different varieties of mooncakes. I’ve got to tell you, I am pretty tired of them. All of them. And tired of the whole gift giving thing. Sorry, but sending a bunch of mooncakes to your clients and vendors is a form of bribery, I don’t care what you have to say in its defense.
