New Gadget: Camera

I bought a new gadget this weekend, the Canon Digital IXUS 500 digital camera. (Called Powershot S500 in North America). I was going to buy a new computer, then an ipod, then a camera, back to a new computer, and finally ended up with a new camera - computer is just a tad bit too much money right now, but I needed a gadget to hold me over for about a month.

Mondays are fun

Well, Today I was in a meeting at a client from 10:30 to about 1. I ahve a conference call tonight at 8, so once again, its another long day. Read some interesting bits of news: * **[iPod Halloween Costume](http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=04/10/31/2248203)** - Seems someone from my University ([Univ. of Michigan](http://www.umich.edu)) kind of screwed the [EECS Department](http://www.eecs.umich.edu) webserver(s) due to the [Slashdot](http://www.slashdot.org) effect. Heh… Jee, I think I’ve seen that [guy](http://www.engadget.com/entry/3238236478279992/) before… * **More iPod fun** [Engadget](http://www.

Election Party?

A friend of mine today suggested via MSN that we have an Election party next week to celebrate(?) the elections. Maybe it should be a costume party.

RSS Feed Reader

I finally took the “dive” and started using Firefox’s built-in “Live Bookmark” feature - basically, it provides you with a basic **RSS Feed Reader** in the form of bookmarks - dynamic! I always browse with my bookmarks visible in a sidebar on the left of the screen, so I thought it might be a good idea to get on the RSS bandwagon before I get too far behind everyone else. Here is what the RSS feeds look like in the sidebar: !

Elections

Found an interesting Flash animation on the New York times website showing the current distribution of Kerry/Bush support across the country. [NYTimes Link](http://www.nytimes.com/packages/html/politics/2004_ELECTIONGUIDE_GRAPHIC/) One interesting thing is Kerry seems to have 10 states under the bag while Bush has ~19. BUT, look at the states Bush has: Alabama, Montana, Kansas, Utah - i.e. who cares. Small in terms of electoral votes. Bush has 227, Kerry has 225, thanks to states that matter like California, New York, and Hawaii (just kidding).
