Foldera - My First Impressions

Contents

As I said in my previous post, I received a Foldera invite last week and I think it has potential. I certainly enjoy looking around, and there are some neat features, and I am definitely interested in the features-to-come (supposed to be in a few weeks?) One thing that I like is the user interface - it isn’t busy/bogged down (like other Web 2.0 sites are becoming). Although, some added AJAX would be nice to reduce page reloads. Colors are pleasing to the eye. Some things that I would like to see changed/modified in the future: I am not a fan of popups. It would be nice if everything opened in the same window. One item - email! I am so used to GMail, you click on an email and it apears! Also, the text box for the email is too constrained and the function buttons (reply, delete, etc.) look like they were added at the last minute. But, they work, so that’s good. The ability to search my emails would be nice, but according to teh FAQ I read, this is coming soon. Something that I can’t find is email filtering. If someone emails to my general email, I would like the ability to automatically move it to an activity folder based on subject or from email address. Yes, I know each Activity Folders have their own email addresses, which is a neat idea, but, until I can add my own domain, as opposed to blah.foldera.com, I don’t be using them much. Another AJAX nice to have - drag and drop to activity folders! So if I am in the unsorted area of email, or contacts, or whatever, it would be nice to click on one item, drag it over an activity folder, and drop it! Done! ;-) Also, SPAM filtering beyond simple From: address flagging would be a nice to have. More to follow…
