I am at the office,
I am at the office, it is 7:30pm. I am not doing any work, though, I am actually waiting for my boss to go to a bar to eat dinner and drink. :-) Sorry, no photos yet. It turns out my apartment complex does not have broadband yet. (oh well, it is only a 4-month contract, I will look for a new apartment with broadband) This means, I could either use dialup and have a heart attack, or just not bother and use the connection at the office. I will do some image processing tonight on my computer (if I can remember), and try to upload some photos tomorrow. I know a few of you are waiting for photos of my apartment, photos I need to take. I am looking to get a dedicated web hosting server, preferably in the US, so I can have full admin control over it. The current setup is annoying. Anyone interested in going in on it with me? We can find some good deals around… Email me. Last weekend (a week ago) I bought a fire-wire/USB2.0 portable hard drive (30GB). Total, it cost me 1300 RMB, or US$160ish.. This allows me to move files easily between my home computer and my office computer. I also bought a DVD player on Saturday (2 days ago). It is a Chinese brand, plays DVDs, VCDs, MP3s, photoCDs, etc.. It is region free, which means, I can play ANY DVD ever. (!) It is nice. I will be sure to provide a photo of it on the photo gallery when I get it up. At work, I have a window seat! A nice L-desk (not too big, but provides extra desk space, non-the-less. Plus, I can look out the window. I will also provide photos of the office - although, I will probably need to get the O.K. from management. It is so nice not being an Intern now. We have an Intern, he gets dirty work, like I did last year. Now, I attend the daily Project Management meetings, and the weekly Sales meetings. Unfortunately, I won’t get my first paycheck until the first week of July (we get paid monthly). So, I have been dipping into my US bank account, which may or may not be good in terms of exchange rates. I think I am currently un-insurred. This could pose a problem if I got hurt here. I am working on getting some form of coverage. I am thinking about buying a new computer - this time a desktop. It has been just about 2 years since I bought the last one, a record for me, I think. I just now had a look at my mastercard online statement. I used it a week ago (a week ago Saturday) to get a cash advance so I could pay rent - I had to pay 6000RMB (US$725), 2 months, 1 month as a deposit, and the daily limit to withdraw from my US bank account (from an ATM) is 2000RMB (US$241). So, any way, I got a cash advance worth around US$460 +/- US$20. Late last week, it was on my online statement as a temporary authorization. Now, it isn’t there. So, I wonder if my credit card company thought it was a bogus charge and denied it - even though I did the cash advance at a bank. So, maybe I made some moneyhere… Should I be honest and check with the bank to see if they got the money?
